So far in Sunless Skies, not entirely in chronological order because it’s 2.30am, I’m tired and slightly burnt-out in a good-ish way:
- We have accumulated enough wealth to purchase and maintain a Moloch-class liner. It bling.
- Still clumsy with the locomotive controls, except for when we find that particular headspace of calm consideration and kill three Reach Marauders plus a Scrive-Spinster without taking a single point of damage….
- ….only to promptly take collision damage while trying to dock at Magdalene’s.
- Made a second trip to Albion. Made deliveries of goods, advanced a mission or two, figured out how to get to the other side of Worlebury-juxta-Mare - and I’m still amused/kinda mad that ‘juxta-Mare’ is basically ‘by the sea’, like, is this a French or British seaside town naming thing? I dunno? If the idea was maximum pretentious self-denial or something, like, I guess it nailed it then XDXD.
- Loaded up on sovereigns and stocked the vault with trade goods, then made the hike up to the Hybrean Wilds to find the Fatalistic Signalman and the transfer relay to Eleutheria.
- SPOILER for his companion quest ending
- ….Was he Dead All Along? Was Asher actually helping a ghost to find peace by being able to accomplish something meaningful? It’s pretty heavily implied that the corpse was him, but also that the corpse has been there a long long time. Nice. And sad. And creepy.
- SPOILER end
- So many freaking dead end routes in my map of the Reach. Is it just how the Reach rolls or does my luck just suck?
- Eleutheria is a freaking horror movie. I say this despite never having watched a horror movie. The entire look of the region. The whoops-the-relay’s-broken, like when the door slams behind the main character(s) to lock them inside the haunted house. The random black hole things that give you a Tale of Terror. The goddamn UNDEPARTED.
- If you don’t know what an Undeparted is I won’t spoil you. You can find out the way I did.
- I limped back to the main ports with <10 Hull left more than once. Talk about running like all the hounds of Hell are on your heels.
- I HAVE actually killed a Senior Scrivener and an Undeparted, though the latter was more luck than anything else because it seemed to have gotten stuck in a corner of the terrain? When it arrived there after exchanging several attacks with me, it just sat there with its face wedged into the wall while I frantically unloaded shots into its back as fast as the heat would let me.
- I keep failing “70% chance of success” tests LOL.
- On the other hand, the net result of that horror show that was the Eleutheria voyage was that I actually made a tiny bit of profit, and have two special prospects to follow up on for even more payout, despite all the purchases of supplies and the repair costs.
- I DON’T WANT TO GO BACK TO ELEUTHERIA.
- (I probably will have to at some point.)
- No, I definitely have to, if only because I’m only 5/7 on finding all the ports there. I know which vague direction for Caduceus, and from there I’m sure I’ll work out where the last one is by looking at the map for the emptiest corner.
- (That’s how I found the Royal Society.)
- WHERE does one find A Selection of Immaculate Souls??
